Title: Puppies Webquest

This webquest will allow students to take on the real-life decision of buying a dog. They will learn how to learn about different dog breeds and what is important when looking into buying a dog.

R4.A.1.4.1: Identify and/or explain stated or implied main ideas and relevant supporting details from text.

R4.B.3.3.3: Interpret graphics and charts and/or make connections between text and the content of graphics and charts.
Objectives:

Objectives:
- Students will be able to work collaboratively in groups to research dog breeds using the internet.
- Students will be able to write a persuasive essay convincing someone to purchase a specific dog breed.
- Students will be able to present their research in a speech to a dog owner persuading them to buy their breed.
Instruction:
- Students will be split into groups of five.
- Each group will be assigned a specific dog breed.
- The group will read the instructions that are posted on each breed page.
- Then each student will then be assigned a mission in which they will read that instruction.
- While students take on their missions the teacher will offer support and guidance through their research.
- As students acquire their information, they will come together collaboratively and write a persuasive essay that is about 6 paragraphs long..
- Once they have written their essay they will create a poster with pictures of their dog, information, and a title.
- With the poster the students will come up with a speech to convince Elizabeth to buy their dog breed.
Materials:
- Computers with internet
- White paper
- Construction paper
- Markers
- Crayons
- Glue
- Printer with paper
- Poster board
